JJM Wines was founded in 2006 when Jason Moore was asked to make wine for a friend who loved his wines and wanted to be in the wine business. Around that time, Jason and Robert Hunt met at a local wine class in Napa, and when they realized that they were both from the great state of Texas, both loved wine, and were intent on making it… that was enough to kick off what would evolve into a beautiful friendship.

Now 20 years later, they’ve traveled the world together, honed their craft of winemaking, and are working closely together to help their clients create world class wines.

When you hire 1, you get them both.

Jason Moore - Founder / Winemaker

As a 20-year veteran in the world of winemaking, not just as a consultant but also as the proud winemaker and owner of a thriving Napa Valley wine brand. My journey through the vineyards and cellars has equipped me with a deep understanding of the wine business from the inside out. As an owner-operator, I've navigated the unique challenges and celebrated the successes that come with creating exceptional, thoughtful, and high scoring wines. Now, I'm excited to pour this rich experience into your winery, helping to cultivate your vision and brand.

“Every Day I Live and Work with Wine is a Dream Come True… and a Blessing from God”

Jason Moore was born and raised in Dallas, TX where he fell in love with wine in his teenage years while working as a waiter in the city's fine dining restaurants.

After a quick year in real estate at the age of 21, Jason realized that his passion was in wine, and more specifically, his lofty aspiration was to become a winemaker in Napa Valley. With the approval of his girlfriend, they eloped in secret, sold everything they owned, and drove cross country to pursue Jason’s dream of starting a winery.

So, with no formal education in winemaking, Jason honed his craft in the garage of an elderly vineyard owner in Napa that he had fortuitously met at a wine tasting. He grew the grapes, Jason made the wine, and they split the wine on bottling day.

In 2004 at the age of 26, Jason officially started his professional winemaking career by launching Modus Operandi Cellars & Vicarious Wines with 200 cases of Napa Cabernet. Since then, Jason has grown the winery to over 4,000 cases selling 80+ percent direct to consumer with little to no advertising.

His wines have been poured at a historic White House State Dinner, they’ve been written into a Michael Connelly novel The Black Box, and have consistently scored in the mid to high 90’s (topping the charts with a 99 point Cabernet Sauvignon and several 98’s, 97’s, etc) by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, The Wine Independent, Jeb Dunnuck, Antonio Galloni, and other major critics.

“The Lord has blessed me with the talent of winemaking, and I intend to use that to glorify His name in any and every way that I can…”

Robert Hunt - Winemaker

Knowing that the wines I make are going to be opened with great friends, family, lovers, and celebrations is knowing in some small way I get to participate in the best days of people’s lives. I consider that to be one of the great privileges of my life.
— Robert Hunt

Robert, a thoughtful, articulate, and passionate winemaker with a rich tapestry of experience, hails from the vibrant city of Austin, Texas. He embarked on his academic journey at Texas A&M, earning a degree in civil engineering, a discipline that honed his precision and attention to detail—skills that later became the cornerstone of his illustrious career in winemaking.

For over two decades, Robert has been a luminary in the Napa Valley wine scene, a region synonymous with excellence. His journey began in 1999 at Pine Ridge, where he mastered the foundational elements of winemaking as a dedicated cellar worker. With each vintage, his expertise deepened, opening the door to working with wineries renowned for their exclusivity and cult status.

At the heart of his journey are his tenures at Ovid and Colgin on what is called “the Rodeo Dr of Napa Valley”—wineries that are not just names but emblems of prestige and exclusivity. These estates, known for their limited production and highly sought-after wines, offered Robert an arena to refine his craft amidst the best in the industry. The wines from these estates are not merely consumed; they are collected and revered, a testament to the artistry and meticulousness that define their creation.

In 2012, Robert's journey took a monumental turn as he ascended to the role of head winemaker at Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards and Ghost Horse where he was responsible for producing one of the most (if not the most) expensive wine in America… Ghost Horse, which sells for $5000+ per bottle. Under his leadership, these wineries flourished, consistently producing wines that not only garnered acclaim but also achieved the coveted 90+ point ratings, with numerous vintages reaching the staggering heights of 95 to 98+ points. These accolades are a mere reflection of Robert's relentless pursuit of excellence and his profound understanding of terroir, technique, and the temporal tapestry of winemaking.

Since 2022, Robert has been at the forefront of pioneering new projects, each echoing his commitment to innovation and excellence in winemaking. His journey is not just about crafting extraordinary wines; it's about the bonds forged and the stories shared, the essence of which is captured in every bottle. For Robert, winemaking is not just a profession; it's a lifelong passion, a symphony of art, science, and human connection that resonates with every vintage he creates.

Jason & Robert have been friends for 20 years, and have consumed more bottles of wine than they’d care to admit!

Many more to come as well…
