Modus operandi cellars

Modus has been owned and operated by Jason since 2004... starting with just 8 barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon and slowly and quietly growing to 4,500 cases. Under Jason's marketing direction and his design and management of the tasting experience, Modus has improved its Trip Advisor ranking from #133 to the #1 winery tasting experience in Napa Valley, and the winery has doubled online sales, and increased wine club memberships 150% in the last year. Aequitas

Jason has been a part of AE since it was just an idea.... As the first and only winemaker for the brand until, unfortunately the estate property was completely destroyed in the October 2017 fires, Jason was instrumental in every aspect of the brands creative design... including its name, label design, making the wine, and marketing to sell it. The loss created by the fires was too muck for the proprietors to bear, so sadly, Aequitas is no longer in operation…. until 2018 when the property was resurrected and production began again!

Cielo Malibu Estate, EST: 1999

Cielo Malibu Estate, EST: 1999

Cielo malibu estate

Jason began consulting with this Malibu / Santa Monica Mountain vineyard estate in 2007 where he was hired to elevate the wines and vineyard to the first production in the area to be considered the "Grand Cru of Malibu". Since then, the wines have become the most expensive and prized wines in the burgeoning AVA of Saddlerock Malibu. The wines and property are truly stunning.

Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards

LPR hired Jason beginning with the harvest of 2022 as Consulting Winemaker in an effort to improve the overall wine quality of this Texas brand. Being born and raised in Dallas, making wine in Texas is a “coming home” moment where Jason is proud to bring his 20 years of Napa Valley experience back to his home state. With LPR, Jason has consulted on not just the winemaking, but also the overall brand focus… eliminating unnecessary wines and focusing on varietals that truly work for Texas. Cellar hygiene, winery flow, cellar organization, and wine style have greatly benefited from Jason’s involvement. As a newer client, and with constant improvements, the sky is the limit for LPR, and Jason is proud to be a part of the revival of the brand and hopes to bring the reputation to a level of admiration throughout the state of Texas.

Montagu / Silver Ghost

Another brand that Jason’s instruction an tutelage took from intern, to client, to now winemaker / owner operated… Friend of a friend, Weston Eidson, was Jason’s harvest intern in 2012, then when Weston decided to start his own wine production in 2013 Jason was officially hired as the winemaker and mentor to Weston thru the 2016 vintages when Weston officially took over as winemaker… As dear friends and eternal mentor to this day, Jason couldn’t be more proud! Weston is now producing over 25,000 cases of wine between his brands Montagu & Silver Ghost.

Gentleman Farmer, EST: 2005

Gentleman Farmer, EST: 2005

Gentleman farmer wines

Jason has been Gentleman Farmers winemaker since its inception in 2005. Although the wine was great, in the beginning, the branding was not as there was no continuity or clear messaging... Jason finally got his way in 2017 when he convinced the owners to rebrand and focus the energy toward a more modern image and also invest in a solid digital marketing strategy, which Jason also designed and implemented. As the labels and website were redesigned, and as the wine continually improved, so has the brands success via tremendous DTC sales and restaurant placements.

After the fires of 2020 and many years of tutelage from Jason, the owner, Joey Wolosz took over as winemaker.
